This animated comedy stars James Corden, Rose Byrne, Daisy Ridley, Elizabeth Debicki Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers, now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne). James Corden voices the character of Peter with playful spirit and wild charm, with Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley performing the voice roles of the triplets, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. Prime fishing season is upon us, and with it, come the multitudes. Locals tend to grumble a bit as their favorite pools and riffles fill with visitors, but I’d argue there is always somewhere to fish here in the Roaring Fork Valley. In August, when everything from the brawling runs of the lower Colorado River up to the intimate high country streams and lakes are now on the fly fisher’s menu, so you have a lot to choose from. First of all, you don’t need a mile of river to yourself to have a great time, especially on the venerated Fryingpan River. Considering the fact that we rarely fish this river with fly line on the water, you can pick a spot apart with just a fly and tippet on the surface. The hatches have been terrific on the Fryingpan, and just about every insect you can imagine is on the scene now. If you hop in a drift boat or raft, as most locals do when they get the chance, it can feel pretty solitary after you get past the boat ramp scene. Most of us leave the wading spots on the floatable rivers to anglers on foot, and simply fish on the go. Putting on early or late can alleviate the people factor in float world, too. My personal go-to during peak season is the high c...

At MASS MoCA, Cauleen Smith Builds an Afrofuturist World

In the artist’s largest survey to date, science fiction and narratives of black resistance offer a vision of a more inclusive future At the threshold of ‘We Already Have What We Need’ – an exhibition of film, installation, textile and works on paper by multimedia artist Cauleen Smith at MASS MoCA – visitors are beckoned in by a three-and-a-half-minute video of a young girl twirling in a cape. Spin (2012), from Smith’s series ‘The Way Out Is the Way Two: Fourteen Short Films About Chicago and Sun Ra’ (2010–12), shows the girl perform a quick balletic hop before turning, arms outstretched, on a concrete ledge to the soundtrack of Sun Ra’s ‘El Is a Sound of Joy’ (1968, recorded 1956). The child’s repetitive spinning action combines exhilaration with focus and a simultaneous connection to, and transcendence of, her quotidian environment. This free yet attentive movement also serves as a legend for interpreting the visionary contents of the exhibition. Curated by Susan Cross, the show knits together several of Smith’s genre-defying approaches to social critique, 20th-century experimental cinema and Afrofuturist world-building. Formed and welded parts are staged for downstream processing at American Fabricators Inc. (AFI), which was purchased by Kloeckner Metals Corp. (KMC) in 2015. It’s no secret that metal service centers have boosted their fabrication capacity over the years to meet the needs of OEM customers. Although many haven’t trumpeted the fact, most know that vertical integration is a reality in some areas of the metal fabrication business. Roswell, Ga.-based Kloeckner Metals Corp. (KMC), whose German parent acquired Namasco Corp. and Macsteel Service Centers USA and merged the two under the KMC brand in 2012, in recent years has been developing a new approach to the U.S. metal fabrication market. Earlier this year the company rolled out a formal communications effort on its website, laying out the full scope of metal fabrication services, from plate rolling and laser cutting to stamping, punching, bending, welding, assembly, and kitting. “We’ve definitely been doing more with our marketing efforts and promoting our fabricating services to grow that area of the business,” said Steven Nghe, head of marketing and communications. “If we can make the supply chain more efficient, at the end of the...

GE Basic 65W Equivalent BR30 Floodlight LED review: This dimmable floodlight LED is an exceptional value

The Good At less than $3 each, GE’s cheapest dimmable LED floodlight passed all of our tests, including surprisingly strong performance on dimmer switches. The Bad The bulb’s two-year warranty is a lot shorter than most competitors, some of which were also brighter and more efficient. It’s also only available in a six-pack, which might be more than some shoppers need. The Bottom Line Though nothing fancy, this is a very decent LED light bulb that does a great job on dimmer switches, and an absolute steal if you need new floodlights throughout your home. It wasn’t long ago that LED floodlights would cost you $15 or even $20 per bulb. Fortunately, that’s no longer the case, with a number of decent, dimmable options that won’t cost you any more than $5 each. The cheapest of these: the GE Basic 65-watt Equivalent Floodlight LED, available now at Lowe’s in a six-pack that costs $17. That comes out to less than $3 per bulb. That’s obviously a terrific price, but light bulbs aren’t throw-away purchases any more. Unlike their incandescent predecessors, LEDs are designed to last for years, and during that lifespan they’ll have a...
